I've been warned by Elizabeth, former resident of Madison, of the brand of people who embody the "cooler than thou" attitude that some Madison residents have. I've never experienced this first hand, maybe other than Peter. Who also, coincidentally also comes equipped with the requisite VW that is synonymous with the species. Peter, however, can keep it real with me and admit that there is life beyond Madison. When he's feeling disillusioned with the town anyway.
I decided this is the weekend I'm going to do it: I'm going to get some ink. I've been asking people where they've had theirs done and no one has really recommended any places to me, until I asked a coworker. She gave me the name of two places that she and her mom were looking to get some ink. Her mom ended up going to UA, which the coworker recommended. I looked at the websites of UA and CCT and decided to go to CCT because:
- CCT is a bit closer.
- CCT has a much better website.
RJ told me that just because the website isn't great doesn't mean that they are better or worse, to which I agree to a certain extent. And I liked that UA was pretty straightforward on their site. But I was still sold on CCT. So I called them to find out if they do walk-ins. The guy who answered the phone was kind of a jerk to me. In that way that accused me of being lame, which discouraged me from showing up at all. You know, in the "we're too cool for you" kind of way. Which totally turned me off. So yeah, that pretty much sealed the deal there on where I'm going to go.
Anyway, I'm going to go after work to check out UA and hopefully make an appointment to get inked this weekend. I was really excited about this earlier in the week, but now the fear is setting in. I've had too much time to think about this. The fear is mostly about the pain. I know I'm not going to have any regrets.
I got a tattoo last year. It really doesn't hurt. I got my tattoo on my forearm, and I wasn't bad. It feels like your cat scratching you non-stop for 40 minutes. I have a guy in Chicago if you don't make it in Madison.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind next time I want to get ink down in Chicago. :)
